Sakkara and Memphis

 

     

Sakkara - with pyramids older than the ones in Ghisa. The step pyramid of Sakkara is considered as the precursor of the pyramids as we know them today. The step pyramid is located in a complex with a well preserved entrance and several pavilions.

Memphis - the ancient capital of Egypt. Left over of the old splendour are only some works of art, including two statues of Ramses II, made of limestone, and a sphinx, made of calcite.
